importing word document into sqlserver

I wanted to import the above word doc into my sql server DB.
I have two columns in the table
1.Chaptereid
2.chapter_notes
chater1,chater2,chapte2,chapter3,chapter4 and chapter5 should go into chaptered column and the text followed by the chapter id should be imported into chapter_notes column.

So how can I import this document.

I would say that if you want to work with "Data", you'll need to save the document as pure text or at least as an rtf..

To store a word doc, you'd need to store it in a text or image column...

So assuming you save it to text, I'd start by loadinging in to a table with 2 columns.

One that is an identity column and one thats varchar

However, there is no gaurentee that the rows will "load" themselves in the correct order.

But lets say they do, you could probably find the "row numbers" that make up the segements you are looking for...

Just don't trust it to be 100% all the time.

To 100% your document or text file would need to be tagged with their relative positions.

Also, you might want to look into your content...damn left wing drivel...|||Well...

Importing table question

I am part of a group that is developing a SQL database. When I import the ne
w tables from another server, They primary keys for the tables do not import
with the table. Does any one know why this would be happening?Do you mean the primary key column or the primary key definition
(constraint)? Also, what tool (exactly) are you using for the import?

Importing existing DTS packages.

There doesn't seem to be a specific group covering legacy subsystems so I thought I would post this in here.

I have several hundred of these to import that are going to be left to run as they are until such time somebody has the time to migrate them to SSIS.

I have to say I'm not look forward to doing them one at a time using the brain dead UI (it folds up folders behind itself causing another two mouse click between each import). Is there a way of automating this import?

DTS packages are stored in exactly the same location in 2005 as they were in 2000, after all it is just a backward compatibility feature. If you upgraded a system there would be no change, If you are migrating as part of the "upgrade" then just copy the contents of msdb..sysdtspackages.

I actually found a utility by following your link above. The tool is called DTSbackup2000. It's more than a backup tool as it also transfers DTS packages between servers, including SQL Server 2005 targets.

It has worked for me and saved me a lot of clicky, clicky with the UI!
